Dom Joly is at the Playhouse on Sunday 11 October, the Stephenson Steam Railway’s Autumn Gala opens half term on 24 and 25 October with tickets now on sale, and the biggest free night of the autumn is the council’s fireworks display on The Links on Sunday 1 November. A week later Whitley Bay’s Remembrance Sunday parade is at 3pm at The Links, and the council has published the road closures.

  • Heritage train rides, Sunday 4 October, then Sundays 11 and 18 October and Thursday 29 October, 11am to 4pm, Stephenson Steam Railway, Middle Engine Lane, NE29 8DX. A four-mile return trip of about 35 to 40 minutes in a 1950s carriage, run by volunteers and subject to availability. The railway has dropped Sunday 25 October, the gala weekend, from its date list. The North Tyneside Steam Railway Association runs every available locomotive from the home fleet on steam and diesel passenger and freight trains; tickets cover site entry and unlimited travel. The council’s road closure order shuts Buddle Street at Station Road and Carville Road from 5.30pm to 7.30pm “to facilitate the Segedunum firework display”; the museum has not yet published its 2026 times or prices. The club’s ticketed display, with fairground rides, food stalls and the bar open. Early bird tickets are on sale through TicketSource; the club does not list the prices on its own post. The Playhouse and Spanish City are both a few minutes’ walk from Whitley Bay Metro station, and Tynemouth Market is inside Tynemouth station itself.
